Inspiration: Yulia Brodskaya

I love discovering artists who use media that are out of the ordinary. As someone who views soap as an art medium, I’m inspired by those that can see something common and turn it into something extraordinary.

Meet Yulia Brodskaya, a Moscow-born artist living in the UK. She turns strips of colored paper into murals that literally jump off the surface. And then the interplay of light and shadow adds yet another dimension to her work.

Browse her website for some lively and colorful illustrations. I read an interview with her where she lists Gustav Klimt as a favorite artist (something we have in common!). I can definitely see the influence of his swirling motifs in her illustrations.
